IBM Think 2019 Recap: AI, Cloud And Security To Make Up Big Blue’s ‘Chapter Two’

IBM CEO Ginni Rometty says latest innovations around Watson make it the most open, scalable AI for business. That’s our top story from our second recap from IBM’s Think conference in San Francisco.

IBM’s Think conference continues in San Francisco. And here’s what you missed:

CEO Ginni Rometty discussed Big Blue’s vision for digital transformation’s next step during her keynote on Tuesday.

“I think this chapter two about digital and AI is about scaling now,” said Rometty, as she discussed IBM’s decision to make the Watson platform available Google Cloud, AWS, Microsoft Azure and other cloud providers. “This will be the most open, scalable AI for business in the world.”

It’s an announcement that won praise from Florida-based Flagship Solutions CEO Mark Wyllie. The company specializes in digitally transforming sports stadiums and fan experiences across the country. “My believe is the IBM makes create products. They have the depth and the breadth of both software and hardware.”

Another key announcement for partners is the introduction of IBM’s Managed Security Services Provider Program. It aims to help partners build security practices and deliver solutions in either an embedded or reseller model. IBM Security’s John Arts, VP of WW Channels & Routes to Market, says the program is on trend with how their customers are navigating security today. Many, he said, are looking to off-load risk as the regulatory environments becomes more restrictive.
